Position Summary: In addition to performing in the role of an Access Associate, provides leadership and assists the supervisor/manager in facilitating the workflow for a team of access associates. For Radiology: Please see addendum for lead responsibilities. In a customer service-oriented manner, interviews patients and/or their representative to collect required registration data, to include but is not limited to; demographic and financial data as well as obtain required signatures, communicates mandated patient information and verifies all information for accuracy. Process includes but is not limited to insurance verification, obtaining pr-certification/authorization, co-payment collection and communicating with patient and/or their representative with regards to their financial assistance needs. Key Responsibilities: •Through mentoring, coaching and positive reinforcement, provides leadership/direction and assists a supervisor/manager in facilitating the workflow for a team of Access Associates, to ensure duties are completed timely and accurately while meeting regulatory standards. •Manages incoming calls while providing necessary information. •Greeting of patients and/or their representatives and providing direction as needed. •Scheduling and/or pre-scheduling patient appointments. •Registering and/or pre-registering patient visits. •Interviewing the patient and/or their representative for necessary information and completing the registration process as defined by departmental policy. •Identification of services where no payment source has been identified to be followed up by communication of financial assistance and/or payment arrangements. •Verification of insurance eligibility/coverage and obtaining necessary pre-certifications/authorizations when applicable •Collecting/processing co-payments, deductibles and/or other types of payments. Provides an estimate of cost when applicable. •Reviews charges in charge review WQs for completeness and accuracy. •Ensures the accuracy of all data collected while meeting the regulatory requirements as outlined by the departmental policy. •Communication with external customers such as but not limited to, payers, physician offices and other departments. •Accurately sets up new patient medical record via Care Connect. •Under the direction of a supervisor/manager, may assist with personnel duties such as orientation, training, performance evaluations and disciplinary measures. •Monitor and re-ordering of supplies as needed to ensure the department’s workflow. •If qualified, may be asked to interpret. •Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: •Associates degree preferred •5 years related work experience in a healthcare setting or customer service setting preferred, leadership experience strongly preferred •Basic computer skills required •Excellent customer service and communication skills required. •Bilingual preferred Required Licensure/Certification Skills: •None Rochester General Health System is an Equal Opportunity / Affirmative Action Employer.
